Zelensky proposed that Putin meet in Kostiantynivka, 'since it is now under Russia's control'
The President of Ukraine called the statements about the capture of the city in Donbas a bluff.
Volodymyr Zelensky announced on his Telegram channel about conversations with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz: "Germany is one of the global leaders in protecting life, and we greatly appreciate that. The key now is missiles for 'Patriots' to protect our people from Russian ballistics. We talked primarily about this – about the possibility of supporting our 'Patriot' systems with the necessary missiles, as Russia is making its final bet precisely on missile strikes against Ukraine: Russia has no more opportunities to drag out the war."
Zelensky also noted that now, on the eve of America's Independence Day, "Putin decided to lie to the world and the American president about the situation at the front: he claims the alleged capture of Kostiantynivka in Donbas by Russians. Of course, this is not true – this is another Russian lie to launch at least some news…!"
"If Kostiantynivka were truly under Russia's control, then, presumably, Putin would have no problems meeting me there and finding diplomatic solutions to finally end the war. But he still does not cross the front line: the truth is very different from Putin's words," noted the President of Ukraine.
Earlier, Russia announced the capture of Kostiantynivka, but the General Staff of Ukraine denies this.
