"Based on conversations with Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, in which they asked me to refrain from sending destructive forces into Iran tonight, and on the condition of the Islamic Republic of Iran's consent to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend bombings and attacks on Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a bilateral ceasefire!"
The reason is that we have already achieved and even exceeded all military objectives and have made great progress towards reaching a final agreement regarding long-term peace with Iran and peace in the Middle East.
We received a 10-point proposal from Iran and believe it is an acceptable basis for negotiations. The United States and Iran have agreed on almost all points that previously caused disagreements, but the two-week period will allow for final agreement on the Accord. On behalf of the United States of America, as president, and also on behalf of the countries of the Middle East, it is a great honor for me that this long-term problem is close to resolution," the US president wrote.
Iran's 10 demands, handed to Trump:
— non-aggression pact;
— Iran's retention of control over the Strait of Hormuz;
— consent to uranium enrichment;
— cancellation of all primary sanctions;
— cancellation of all secondary sanctions;
— termination of all UN Security Council resolutions;
— termination of all IAEA Board of Governors resolutions;
— payment of compensation to Iran;
— withdrawal of American combat forces from the region;
— cessation of war on all fronts, including the war against "Hezbollah" in Lebanon.
