In Kyiv, during a military medical commission, a 31-year-old man inflicted fatal stab wounds on a 65-year-old female doctor. This was reported by law enforcement agencies and the Kyiv City Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.
According to preliminary information, the man, who was delivered by police to the Podilsky District Territorial Recruitment Center for violating military registration rules, was sent for an unscheduled military medical commission.
During an examination in the surgeon's office, he suddenly attacked the doctor with a knife. The woman sustained numerous stab wounds to the chest and arms and died at the scene.
The attacker was immediately detained by police officers. Investigators continue to work at the scene.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident under the article on premeditated murder of a person in connection with the performance of official duties. The sanction of this article provides for punishment ranging from ten years of imprisonment to life imprisonment. The detained person is expected to be officially charged in the near future.
The Kyiv Territorial Recruitment Center also emphasized that military medical commissions are civilian institutions, are not subordinate to the military administration bodies of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and their medical personnel consist of civilian employees.
