Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys expressed support for the European Humanities University (EHU) after the Belarusian authorities' decision to declare it an "extremist organization".

"Minsk's move to declare the European Humanities University, an accredited Belarusian university operating in exile in Vilnius, an 'extremist organization' is outrageous.
It exposes students, faculty, and their families to serious risk and obstructs access to independent, objective education.
This is another hostile step by Alexander Lukashenka's regime against Lithuania and the EU. We are ready to support the EHU community," Budrys wrote on social media network X.
On April 14, it became known that the Supreme Court of Belarus recognized EHU and its structures as an "extremist organization". The Prosecutor General's Office stated that the university is allegedly funded by foreign entities and prepares young people "for the implementation of Western scenarios of political system transformation, promotion of so-called democratic values, 'alternative' interpretations of historical, cultural, and other events".
