The Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that delegations from Iran and the US have arrived in the country, with talks between them expected on June 21.
The Iranian delegation included Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi. Representatives of security services, the central bank, and the oil industry also arrived in Switzerland with them.
The US side in the talks includes Vice President J.D. Vance, US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Representatives of Pakistan, which acts as a mediator in the US-Iranian talks, also arrived in Switzerland. The participation of Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir is expected.
Before departing for Switzerland, J.D. Vance stated that he hopes to achieve progress on issues concerning Iran's nuclear program and a ceasefire in Lebanon.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei noted that Tehran will demand the other side fulfill its commitments.
Initially, the talks were planned for Friday but were postponed due to Israeli attacks in Lebanon.
The negotiation process is taking place against a backdrop of strained relations between the US and Iran. Previously, Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz in response to Israeli strikes in Lebanon, but the American command claims that shipping through the strait continues as normal.
US President Donald Trump stated that during the 60-day ceasefire, fees for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz will not be charged. After this period, no fees are planned either, unless the US makes a different decision in case the peace agreement fails.
