In his social network Truth Social, Donald Trump reported that Iranian forces opened fire on French and British cargo ships. According to him, this is a gross violation of the ceasefire agreements.
The US President offered Tehran a new deal, warning of severe consequences in case of refusal. Trump threatened that the United States would destroy every nuclear power plant and every bridge in Iran if the agreement is not accepted. He added that he would do what no other president has done in the last 47 years to put an end to the Iranian military machine.

A new round of negotiations is scheduled for April 20 in Islamabad, where American representatives are heading. Commenting on Tehran's statement about closing the Strait of Hormuz, Trump noted that the passage is already closed due to the American blockade.
According to the US President's estimates, Iran is losing $500 million daily due to shipping restrictions. At the same time, the United States benefits economically, as merchant ships are now redirected to load in ports in Texas, Louisiana, and Alaska.
On the evening of April 18, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officially announced that the Strait of Hormuz would be closed to shipping until the complete lifting of the American blockade. Earlier that day, it became known that IRGC boats fired on two commercial vessels during their passage through the strait.
