In Minsk, a 72-year-old pensioner found with ammunition, gunpowder, and a rifle with a silencer
The elderly man faces up to 7 years in prison.
Militiamen found ammunition, gunpowder, and a rifle belonging to a 72-year-old Minsk resident, "Minsk-Novosti" reports.
An ammunition cartridge was found in the mezzanine of an apartment on Malinin Street, where the elderly Minsk resident lives. The man stated that his son, who died back in 2005, likely put it there.
Later, in a building on a plot in Stolbtsy district, owned by the accused, police officers found about a hundred more cartridges of various calibers, suitable for firing, gunpowder, and a rifle with a silencer. According to the accused, all of this belonged to his hunter friends and his deceased neighbor.
A criminal case has been initiated against the Minsk resident. The pensioner did not have a permit for storing and using combat and hunting weapons.
"The accused had not previously been brought to criminal liability," commented Alexander Mazanik, deputy prosecutor of the Leninsky district. "He is charged with committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 295 of the Criminal Code ('illegal actions concerning firearms, ammunition, and explosives'), the sanction for which is up to seven years of imprisonment with or without a fine."
The reason why the police came to the pensioner's home with a search is not reported.
