According to investigative materials, the man could have been managing the activities of a criminal group in Poland, including organizing crimes and controlling the distribution of received money. Polish authorities claim that he had the status of a "thief-in-law" since 1982 and was overseeing controlled criminal structures.

It is also reported that the man was wanted by Interpol.

Due to the detainee's lack of a valid passport, the court sent him to a special center for foreigners under guard. Polish authorities plan to deport him to Russia, but will only be able to do so after official confirmation of his identity.
