"Angel" team closed its camp, but the search for a 72-year-old pensioner near Krupki continues

Alena Tsekhavaya disappeared three weeks ago.

On Saturday and Sunday, a large-scale search headquarters operated in the forest near Krupki. The "Angel" search and rescue squad, police, OMON (riot police), canine units, divers, enduro motorcyclists, and dozens of volunteers combed square after square in hopes of finding 72-year-old Alena Tsekhavaya, who disappeared on April 27, writes "Minskaya Pravda".

By Sunday evening, the tents were taken down. Volunteers loaded the equipment and left. Even the ribbons showing the way to the camp were removed.

Journalists spoke with search coordinators and representatives of the District Internal Affairs Department to understand what has been done and what will happen next. The woman has not yet been found.

"Large areas were covered by walking groups, quad bikes, drones. On the water, guys in a boat explored the water area, and a squad from the Water Rescue Society worked. To the maximum extent that physical and technical resources allowed, we carried out search tasks. Unfortunately, at the moment there are no positive results. The woman has not been found. The active phase of the large-scale volunteer search has been completed. The camp has been dismantled," said "Angel" coordinator Nikolai.

"Will we return here? I'm not ready to answer today," he added. "We will look at the situation: whether we can provide groups with senior members, whether there will be military personnel or other resources."

Sergei Kovgan, head of "Angel", notes that even if the camp is dismantled, the person remains wanted. And, of course, the resident of Krupki will be searched for.

If the woman is not found, large-scale searches will also be carried out in the middle of the week, or next weekend.

Over two days, all priority directions indicated by testimonies and cameras were worked through. Four quadcopters, motor vehicles, a boat, and divers were involved. A huge amount of work has been done. Unfortunately, the result is negative – the woman has not been found.

Alena Tsekhavaya lives in Krupki-2. This is a military town, along the perimeter of which stretches a continuous forest. The pensioner often walked to her friend's house in Krupki, but had never disappeared before, and she had no noticeable memory problems.

The last time Alena Viktorovna was seen by her friend: on April 24, they went for a walk and to the shop together. It was she who first raised the alarm when the elderly woman stopped getting in touch after some time.

"We have no theories about where she might have gone. According to relatives, Alena Viktorovna has a dacha in Nacha, but lately she hasn't planted anything there and hasn't traveled," said Yulia Kovgan, a representative of "Angel."

Alena Viktorovna Tsekhavaya, 72 years old.

Height 170 cm, slender build, blue eyes, gray, long hair. She was wearing a white blouse, gray trousers, and a white headscarf.

If anything is known about her whereabouts, please report to number 102 (nearest police authority) or to the additional number +375 (29) 617— 51‑86 (Viber).

The police advise not to let elderly relatives go alone into forest areas or unfamiliar places. If a person still goes – it is worth making sure they have a charged mobile phone, water, and necessary medications. It should be explained that one should not go deep into the forest if it is unfamiliar. And if trouble does happen – do not wait, immediately contact the police. Every hour can be crucial.
