Volha Takarchuk on Tsikhanouski: "He disappeared because he screwed up here. And the situation needed to be saved somehow"

In July last year, blogger Volha Takarchuk sharply criticized Siarhei Tsikhanouski, who, in her opinion, made a number of mistakes within a few weeks after his release.
In an interview for the "Just to Ask" program on Belsat, Volha Takarchuk frankly admitted to Hlafira Zhuk that she was afraid to take such a step, as she didn't know what the audience's reaction would be.
"When I released it, I remember going to a psychologist, my hands and feet were just trembling. I came to her, sat down, and said: 'I'm so scared, I'm going against such a famous person, whom everyone was waiting for, worrying about, who went through so much. [But] I don't agree with his words, his policies'," the blogger recounts.
But, as she notes, the feedback turned out to be positive:
"I found hundreds of thousands of 'thank yous', likes, everyone started donating, helping, supporting, calling, writing. From America, from everywhere where there are people. I think everyone I knew and didn't know wrote to me."
According to Takarchuk, such a reaction indicates that many shared her opinion but were afraid to express it:
"I realized that this also hurt people. It affected them, but they were simply afraid, probably, to speak out, and I wasn't afraid."
When asked how Siarhei Tsikhanouski himself reacted to her video, Takarchuk admitted that he took offense.
"He said: 'You don't need to talk about me'," Volha recalls.
At the same time, she notes that she does not speak out against specific individuals. She disagrees with their opinions. Takarchuk herself is also ready to listen to criticism, because, as she says, "we all have the right to our opinion, to our thoughts, statements, emotions."
"If someone doesn't agree with my opinion, feel free to say so. And maybe I'll even listen and take heed," Takarchuk states and expresses hope:
"Maybe something will click for Tsikhanouski during his time in America, he will come out, apologize to everyone, and follow a path that I agree with."
When asked how she evaluates Siarhei Tsikhanouski's disappearance from the information space, Takarchuk answers harshly:
"He disappeared because he screwed up here, and so the situation needed to be saved somehow. In any unclear situation, it's better to disappear. I'm glad. Let him spend time with his children, learn the language.
Of course, it's not very good that Prakopyeu took him under his wing. That's a drawback, so to speak. And that's why I don't expect anything good from Siarhei, unfortunately. Nothing good will come as long as there's brainwashing from Vadim [Prakopyeu].
