Air raid alert declared in Latvia, residents asked to take shelter

The Latvian National Armed Forces warned on Monday morning about a possible threat in the country's airspace. This information was published on the website «112.lv».
A warning about a possible threat in the airspace was announced in the eastern regions of the country — in Rēzekne, Ludza, Balvi, and Alūksne. Emergency messages were sent to residents of these regions via the mobile network, NBS reported.
NATO air policing mission fighters were scrambled into the airspace of the Baltic countries.
The National Armed Forces urged residents to take shelter in a safe place inside buildings and follow the two-walls principle.
Citizens are also asked not to approach suspicious low-flying objects and to call emergency number 112 if they are detected.
Later, NATO fighters shot down a drone in Latvian airspace.
