The Russian occupation authorities of the so-called "Luhansk People's Republic" on Tuesday introduced a limit on fuel sales to private individuals. Now, no more than 20 liters per day are sold per person. Earlier, similar restrictions came into effect in annexed Crimea.
At the same time, the occupation authorities explain the introduction of limits not by Ukrainian drone strikes on oil depots and refineries, but by "increased demand."
"Given the reserves currently available in the Luhansk People's Republic, and taking into account the increased demand from the population over the past few days, there is a risk of a deficit. A decision has been made to limit the sale of AI-95, AI-92, and diesel fuel to no more than 20 liters. The ban also applies to the sale of petrol in containers," Russian agencies quote the statement from the local minister of fuel and energy.
Meanwhile, experts link the fuel crisis in the occupied territories to the activation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The crisis is caused by the aerial blockade by Ukrainians of the R-280 "Novorossiya" highway (Rostov-on-Don — Simferopol), which became the main supply route after traffic restrictions through the Crimean Bridge and Kerch Strait.
Ukrainian military personnel are massively attacking supply transport with drones as part of a program. Analysts confirm hundreds of cases of destroyed trucks in the rear, which has paralyzed Russian logistics and left the peninsula without fuel.
