See how the Mukhavets River has become shallow after the spring drought in the Brest region PHOTOS
Residents of Brest on Threads drew attention to how unsightly the Mukhavets River looks already at the very beginning of summer.

«What happened to the Mukhavets? Why did it become so shallow so sharply? In some places, it can already be crossed, especially near the bridge in the Three-Arched Gate area.

In spring, everything was normal, but now frogs are croaking all over the fortress and it smells of mud…», — one of the Threads users wrote.

Commentators note that this is not uncommon lately and happens regularly. The reason for this is the small amount of precipitation in the region, and certain anthropogenic factors are also listed:

«This has been the picture every year for the last 10 years. Dams upstream are almost always closed, for some reason there's no water.»
«There hasn't been rain for a long time, this has happened before.»
«Well, considering that part of the water comes here from the Carpathians, it's possible that due to political situations, most of the sluices at the borders are blocked. Therefore, less water reaches us. And the second reason is low precipitation.»
«Water is held by dams for the rowing canal, garbage from the river, when they dug, was not removed but remained in the river. And there's little water in the Lesnaya River too, spring was very dry…»
«Everywhere the level has dropped due to low precipitation. Also, the sluice holds water, that's why the Mukhavets has become shallow.»
«In addition to everything, the riverbed was disturbed during bridge construction. It all adds up.»
One of the users also added a fresh photo of the Bug River on this occasion, where the situation is also not brilliant now.
