Aliaksandr Milinkevich's wife spoke about his condition: memory is preserved, but there are significant problems with the motor system
The recovery dynamics of politician Aliaksandr Milinkevich after a serious operation remain unstable. His wife Inna Kuley notes that despite the preservation of cognitive functions, the main problem remains the restoration of movement and the consequences of nosocomial infections.

Inna Kuley shared details about the politician's health in an interview with Radio Svaboda, which the 'Zerkalo' portal retells.
She described the recovery process as 'a swing,' where noticeable progress is periodically followed by a slight setback. The main positive point is that the brain damage did not affect Aliaksandr Milinkevich's memory and speech. However, long-term bed rest has significantly affected his physical condition.
Currently, rehabilitation specialists are actively working on restoring motor skills: they are trying to get the politician to sit, stand on his feet, and teach him to maintain posture. This process is the most difficult.
An additional threat is bacteria that Milinkevich contracted while already in the hospital. According to Inna Kuley, they are in a semi-dormant state but can become active at any moment, which periodically slows down the rehabilitation process.
Aliaksandr Milinkevich's health problems worsened last November. An examination showed that his right carotid artery was 80 percent blocked by a thrombus. Doctors warned of a high risk of stroke, so on November 25, the politician underwent a planned operation. However, after the surgical intervention, a complication in the form of brain edema began, due to which he spent three weeks in the intensive care unit.
As a result, the left part of the brain was not affected, but the right part, which is responsible for movement, suffered damage. Because of this, the politician's left arm stopped working, and serious problems with leg mobility arose. For a long and complex rehabilitation, the family needed 120,000 zlotys (about 33,000 dollars). This amount was raised by caring Belarusians in just two days.
