The agency initiated a criminal case for defamation.
“In June, false information began to spread through various Internet resources about the detention and placement in a pre-trial detention center of the former chairman of the Gomel City Executive Committee, Uladzimir Pryvalau. This information does not correspond to reality. No criminal case has been initiated against Uladzimir Pryvalau, and no criminal prosecution has been carried out,” the agency's message says.
The IC notes that a criminal case has been initiated under Article 188 (defamation) of the Criminal Code.
The information that a criminal case was opened against Uladzimir Pryvalau was provided on Tuesday, June 16, by the authoritative and informed Gomel publication "Flagstaff".
“Officially, nothing is reported about the detention and criminal case, but, according to the publication's source, the ex-chairman of the city executive committee is accused of schemes with reselling apartments. Reportedly, there are other officials involved in the case. Pryvalau was in the Gomel pre-trial detention center, but recently he might have been released on his own recognizance,” wrote "Flagstaff".
