In Babruysk, instead of a hot day, the weather suddenly changed to a thunderstorm with squally wind and heavy rain.
Around 14:40, the city found itself at the epicenter of a short but intense thunderstorm front. The weather sharply deteriorated: it became dark, a strong wind rose, and a thunderstorm with thunder and downpour began. Trees swayed under the force of the wind, and the temperature noticeably dropped.
According to reports from residents and on social media, the consequences of the squall were recorded in various parts of the city: fallen trees, damaged structures, and overturned infrastructure objects. On some streets, there were even reports of destroyed or displaced light structures, including public transport stops.
Disruptions in transport operation were also noted — in the area of one of the enterprises, trolleybuses stopped due to possible damage to the overhead contact line after trees fell. In some microdistricts, there were temporary problems with water supply.
Meteorologists later recorded that the wind speed during the bad weather reached approximately 22 meters per second. The thunderstorm was short but powerful, and after it, the front began to move further to the southeast.
