Traffic Police said what to do about accidents increasingly caused by drivers over 70 years old
A serious increase in the number of accidents involving elderly drivers has been recorded in Belarus. The Traffic Police appealed to the Ministry of Health for help.

The Traffic Police states that the country is seeing an increase in road traffic accidents involving drivers over 70 years old. In the first six months of 2026, 62 incidents occurred due to their fault, in which six people died and 65 were injured.
One of the latest such cases: near Navahrudak, an 81-year-old and a 69-year-old pensioner crashed their cars into each other — there was a fatality. Among recent cases is a fatal hit-and-run on a Minsk resident in the Valozhyn district, committed by a 71-year-old driver who fled the scene of the accident but was identified.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs informed the Ministry of Health about the current road situation and the need to take this data into account when conducting medical examinations of elderly drivers for their admission to road traffic.
