US authorities offered a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to his arrest.

In Mexico, Alfonso Fernandez Magallón, known as Poncho, leader of the "Los Reyes" cartel and one of the most wanted criminals in the US, was arrested.
The operation was carried out by the Mexican army in the western state of Michoacán based on a court order accusing Poncho of unlawful detention and incitement to riots, reports Emeequis.
US authorities offered a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to his arrest.

Fernandez Magallón is considered one of the main leaders of the "Carteles Unidos" alliance — a coalition of criminal groups that the United States designated as a foreign terrorist organization in February 2025.
According to Mexican authorities, after the arrest, cartels began a wave of retaliatory violence: they blocked roads and set fire to numerous vehicles in the municipalities of Los Reyes and Peribán.
