US President Donald Trump on August 3 sharply reacted to Iran's statements that Tehran allegedly is not negotiating with Washington. In his post on the social network Truth Social, he stated that the American military blockade would continue until "an agreement or complete capitulation" is reached.

Trump called Iran "duplicitous" for openly stating that there are no negotiations. According to him, the US is actually discussing with Iran ways to resolve the problem, which, he claims, has existed for decades.
This statement came after the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that there are currently no direct negotiations with the US. According to the Iranian side, Tehran is only holding talks with Oman regarding ensuring safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian Foreign Ministry representative Esmail Baghaei stated that Iran and Oman are discussing the creation of a new maritime route through the Strait of Hormuz. He noted that this route must take into account the interests and sovereign rights of both sides.
Earlier, Trump claimed that the US and Israel had agreed to refrain from new strikes on Iran, provided that an agreement to end the conflict was quickly reached. Iranian media refuted these claims.
According to Trump, Iran allegedly itself requested negotiations, but has now returned to statements about controlling the Strait of Hormuz. The American president stated that this important maritime route is allegedly already completely controlled by the US Navy and that access to Iran will be restricted until an agreement is reached.
