Belarusian archer with Polish citizenship Karyna Kazlouskaya won seven gold medals at the Polish Archery Championship, which took place in Bialystok. She won at distances of 30, 50, 60, and 70 meters, as well as in mixed, team, and overall women's standings, writes "Radio Svaboda".
Thanks to her phenomenal success, Kazlouskaya made history in Polish archery. She became the first athlete to win all seven events of the championship program, taking gold in 100% of the competitions.
Last year, Karyna was already the champion of Poland. This year, her club "Łucznik" from the city of Żywiec, for which she competes, also won.
According to the athlete, last year she had to work in the popular Polish chain of stores "Żabka" to earn a living and simultaneously continue training. This year, the need for additional work disappeared: her training and performances are now supported by the company InPost, which deals with parcel delivery.
In September 2027, Kazlouskaya plans to go to Colombia for the World Championship. Licenses for participation in the 2028 Olympic Games will be contested there. And this year, the Polish Cup in Rzeszów also awaits her.
Karyna Kazlouskaya is a multiple champion of Belarus in archery. At the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, she, along with the Belarusian team, took fourth place.
On May 31, 2022, the athlete announced that she had left the Belarusian national team and left the country. She explained her decision by prolonged stress associated with the Olympics, the pandemic, the 2020 elections, political repressions in Belarus, and the war in Ukraine. According to her, for the sake of sport, she remained silent for a long time and endured humiliations, threats, intimidation, and increased control.
In 2020, Kazlouskaya, along with dozens of other Belarusian athletes, signed a letter for fair elections. After moving to Poland, she began competing for the Polish national team. In June 2023, as part of the Polish national team, Karyna won a bronze medal at the European Cup.
In February 2025, almost three years after moving from Belarus, Kazlouskaya received Polish citizenship.
