The Security Service of Ukraine conducted another unconventional special operation and struck Russian forces in the port of Novorossiysk. For the first time in history, Ukrainian Sub Sea Baby underwater drones blew up a Russian Federation submarine of Project 636.3 "Varshavyanka" (NATO classification - Kilo).

As a result of the explosion, the submarine sustained critical damage and was effectively put out of action.
The submarine was carrying four Kalibr cruise missile launchers, which Russia uses to strike Ukrainian territory.
The operation was carried out jointly by the 13th Main Directorate of Military Counterintelligence of the SBU and the Naval Forces of Ukraine.
The cost of a "Varshavyanka" class submarine is estimated at approximately 400 million US dollars. Given international sanctions, building a similar submarine could now cost up to 500 million dollars. This class of boats is also known as "Black Hole" – due to the hull's ability to absorb sounds and remain stealthy to sonars.
It is emphasized that the blown-up submarine was forced to be in Novorossiysk port after successful operations by Ukrainian Sea Baby surface naval drones, which forced Russian ships and submarines to leave Sevastopol Bay in temporarily occupied Crimea.
