Water pipe accident in Vitebsk, several houses left without water

In Vitebsk, due to a water pipe accident, several residential buildings were temporarily left without cold water. The pipe burst on Saturday on Lenin Street right in the middle of the roadway, reported the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

As a result of the incident, cold water supply was cut off in six multi-apartment buildings. To provide residents with drinking water, its delivery was organized — a tank truck was placed near building No. 52 on Lenin Street.

According to "Vitebskvodokanal", repair work is planned to begin at 23:00, when traffic intensity decreases. Authorities also warned that during the repair and for the next 24 hours, water quality might deteriorate.

Earlier, a similar situation occurred in Minsk, but there on January 19, a heating main was damaged, resulting in the loss of hot water. The elimination of this accident dragged on for several days; heating and hot water supply were fully restored only by January 22.

Also, during these days, accidents on heating mains and heating networks were noted in Gomel, Barysaŭ, Smaliavičy.
