A critical situation has developed in the Russian border region after night shelling and large-scale accidents on utility networks. In Belgorod, about 80,000 people remain without heat supply in February frosts. Regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported that in addition to heating problems, about three thousand city residents are deprived of gas, and another thousand residents are without electricity.
The collapse began after a missile strike, the target of which was the "Luch" TPP. This caused a blackout, which escalated into a systemic accident: during attempts to reconnect networks, numerous pipe ruptures and repeated short circuits began.
Despite official statements about the "heroic efforts" of energy workers, heating has not yet returned to homes. To save people from hypothermia, warming centers have been deployed in the city, including in government buildings, the philharmonic hall, and the local administration.
At the same time, the Bryansk region also came under attack. According to Governor Alexander Bogomaz, the region was attacked by "Neptun" and HIMARS missiles. As a result of the shelling, seven settlements in the region completely lost electricity, and two injured civilians were also reported.
