Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán publicly called Ukraine an enemy of Hungary. He stated this during a meeting with activists of the ruling Fidesz party in Szombathely. Orbán cited Ukraine's actions, which, according to him, insist on banning the supply of Russian gas and oil to Europe, as the main reason for this position.

"As long as Ukraine does this, Ukraine, I apologize, is our enemy. Ukraine violates our fundamental interests by constantly demanding and inciting Brussels to disconnect Hungary from cheap Russian energy. Whoever does this is not an opponent of Hungary, but its enemy," Orbán stated.
The Hungarian Prime Minister also expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of the European Union, claiming that Brussels allegedly plans to send soldiers to Ukraine under the EU flag. Orbán stated that Hungary does not want to participate in such initiatives and does not want to see Hungarian youth in the war. He added that such steps, in his opinion, are gradually bringing Europe closer to a wider military conflict with Russia.
Orbán believes that Ukrainians should not be allowed to join the European Union, although some cooperation with Ukraine is necessary because it is a neighboring country.
