New sanctions package against Russia to be approved on the anniversary of the war's start
A new, 20th package of European Union sanctions against Russia is planned to be approved on February 24. This was announced by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security, Kaja Kallas, after the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting on January 29, writes "European Pravda".

Kaja Kallas noted that EU member states are proposing various measures, including a complete ban on maritime services, as well as sanctions in the energy and mineral fertilizers sectors. However, there is no consensus yet on the final content of the package.
"I cannot say that we have an agreement now, otherwise we would have already announced that we have an agreement. But today we had a lot of discussions (about this) — and now we continue to work on it," the European official stated.
Next week, the European Commission is expected to publish a proposal for a new sanctions package. France has known plans to make it particularly harsh on Russia's "shadow fleet."
It is also reported that a group of European Commissioners, which includes the European Commissioner for EU Enlargement, Marta Kos, will visit Kyiv before the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February.
