Polish Boxing Champion, who unexpectedly returned to Belarus, explained his return

In an interview with Sport.tvp.pl, he explained his return by saying that Polish managers had deceived him.

"I left Poland because Viktor Materan and Dzianis Zvonik deceived me, and I realized it's better not to deal with such people."

Yauhen says he has proof that they signed a contract for a fight in Switzerland in December 2024 without his knowledge.

"They claimed they urgently needed my signature. They also cheated me out of 1500 euros. They said the fee for the fight was 9000 euros, but I contacted the organizers of the boxing night, and they sent me the real contract, which had the sum of 10,500 euros. They simply stole 1500 euros from me.

Later, I spoke with promoter Mariusz Grabowski, asking him to look into the matter, but he did nothing. I got the impression that he was on their side," says Yauhen.

"The problem arose in December 2024 concerning the fight in Switzerland, when Zvonik signed the contract for me. Materan, for unknown reasons, sent him the agreement, and he signed it. Not me! I didn't want to box there because a month before that there was a Tymex gala, and I wanted to perform there. But then I was told that I couldn't perform there and had to go to Switzerland," says Yauhen.

He is going to file a lawsuit because he has all the evidence that "these are fraudsters and that they forge signatures. I also have messages in which they defame me without any proof."

Makarchuk is confident that he will not face any troubles in Belarus due to his boxing in Poland, because he "did nothing of the sort," and Polish managers made it up.

Yauhen Makarchuk moved to Poland in the autumn of 2022 and soon began to compete in the ring in that country. He was learning Polish and intended to obtain citizenship.

"In my family, we were raised in the spirit of Polishness from generation to generation. To this day, my loved ones and I uphold Polish traditions and customs. [...] I like Poland; I feel at home here. I am Polish. My dream is to win a world champion belt for Poland," the boxer said in an interview in the autumn of 2024.

Now he says the following: "I said then that I wanted to win the belt for Poland because at that time I was competing professionally under a Polish license. I can say one thing: it was very difficult for me to live there. The mentality, the people... everything is completely different. Moreover, I don't even speak Polish well, so it was difficult for me. I was just chasing the dream of becoming a world champion."

Viktor Materan, commenting on the situation with Makarchuk to Sport.tvp.pl, stated that the accusations against him are untrue and are intended to justify the decision to leave Poland for Belarus, which was made much earlier and in agreement with third parties.

"All contractual and financial matters were carried out in accordance with agreements and current standards. I have never signed or authorized the signing of any documents without the athlete's knowledge.

Yauhen's behavior long before his departure indicated preparation for breaking agreements and changing career direction, which was known to people in the sports community. I view the current accusations as an attempt to shift responsibility for his own decisions, the context and consequences of which raise legitimate questions," Materan stated.
