According to official information, the man is suspected of cooperating with foreign intelligence, but the Ministry of Defense did not disclose further details.
At the same time, the Polish publication Onet.pl, citing its source, clarified that it concerns a 60-year-old man who had worked in the Ministry of Defense system for over 30 years and was a civilian employee. The investigation believes that he maintained contacts with representatives of Russian and Belarusian special services and even met with them personally.
According to Onet, the Polish Military Counterintelligence Service conducted an investigation into this employee back in 2021, but nothing suspicious was found at that time.
At a press conference on February 4, Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesman for the Minister-Coordinator of Polish Special Services, confirmed that the detained individual was indeed a civilian and had worked in the Ministry of Defense structures for many years. He also noted that the man had been under operational surveillance by counterintelligence for a long time but did not hold a high position.
According to Onet, the employee has already been charged. He has been transferred to the military prosecutor's office, and if found guilty of working for foreign intelligence, he faces a lengthy prison sentence.
