Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced that from February 23, the country would stop emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine. According to him, if Kyiv asks for help to stabilize the energy system, Slovakia will no longer provide it.

Fico claims that this decision does not violate the country's international obligations. He also noted that supplies could resume if Ukraine restores oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline towards Slovakia. According to his position, this is a response to the cessation of Russian oil transit.
Similar statements about possible restrictions concerning Ukraine were also made by the Hungarian authorities. Earlier, the Ukrainian side reported that oil transportation via Druzhba was interrupted after a Russian attack.
The Slovak opposition criticized the government's decision, calling it erroneous and politically motivated.
