Zelenskyy considers internet crackdown in Russia preparation for attack on Baltics
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy voiced an alarming forecast regarding the true goals of the Russian leadership. In his opinion, the total cleansing of the digital space in the neighboring country is not being done to strengthen censorship. It is a preventive step before the announcement of a general mobilization, the resources of which the Kremlin may use to test the resilience of NATO borders.

During Sunday's TV marathon broadcast, the Ukrainian leader suggested looking at internal Russian processes from a different angle, reports the publication "Ukrainska Pravda".
Zelenskyy is confident that the restriction of access to social networks in Russia did not begin to protect Vladimir Putin from criticism by disgruntled citizens. The task, according to the President of Ukraine, is much deeper — to prevent mass riots.
The reason for such a social explosion should be a large-scale mobilization, which this time will directly affect residents of central cities, including Moscow and St. Petersburg.
To keep the situation under control during the mass distribution of conscription notices, the authorities critically need to deprive people of tools for rapid protest coordination.
Ukrainian Front or Baltic Proving Ground
Why does the Kremlin need such an enormous amount of fresh manpower? Zelenskyy sees two main scenarios here. The first, which he calls "Plan A," involves using new reserves to repeat a large-scale offensive on Ukrainian positions.
However, there is also a second option, which requires far less expense and effort but poses no less of a geopolitical threat. This involves a localized parallel strike on a territory where fewer combat units would suffice.
As such a target, the Ukrainian leader directly names the Baltic countries, as they are objectively not ready for a strong independent military confrontation with the Russian war machine.
The choice of the specific direction of the strike will depend only on how the Kremlin assesses the resolve of NATO countries to actually engage in war to defend their allies.
A Test for the North Atlantic Alliance
The prospect of a Russian invasion of Europe inevitably raises the question of the effectiveness of Article Five of the NATO statute on collective defense. Commenting on the possibility that Western countries might decide to stand aside at a critical moment, Zelenskyy expressed confidence in the opposite.
He frankly admits that not all alliance states would have a great desire to enter into a direct bloody conflict for the sake of supporting their Baltic partners. But the allies simply won't have another choice.
They will have to unite and respond harshly to the potential aggression of the Russian leader, because otherwise, the very meaning of the military bloc's existence will be destroyed.
