Tsikhanouskaya, at Nawrocki's invitation, participated in Constitution Day celebrations in Poland

Tsikhanouskaya emphasized that the May 3rd Constitution — the first in Europe — is also important for Belarusians, as it is part of our common European heritage.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya participated in the celebrations marking Constitution Day on May 3rd in Poland, her press service reports. At the invitation of the President of Poland, she attended the ceremony of awarding Andrzej Poczobut with the Order of the White Eagle — Poland's highest state award.

Afterward, together with Pavel Latushka, Deputy Head of the United Transitional Cabinet, and representatives of Polish authorities, Tsikhanouskaya marched solemnly through the center of Warsaw and took part in events at the Presidential Palace.

Tsikhanouskaya emphasized that the May 3rd Constitution — the first in Europe — is also important for Belarusians, as it is part of our common European heritage.

She noted that this document laid down principles for which Belarusians are still fighting today: limited power, accountability to society, and the rule of law.

Падпарадкаваныя Маскве савецкая і лукашэнкаўская гісторыяграфіі заўсёды рэзка адмоўна ставіліся да перыядаў, калі беларусы і палякі жылі ў адзінай дзяржаве. Маўляў панскі прыгнёт, прымусовае акаталічванне і ледзь не гвалтоўная паланізацыя, насуперак якім беларусы нібыта заўсёды марылі патрапіць пад клапатлівае крыла ўсходняга брата і ягонай РПЦ. Безумоўна, а ні становішча ліцвінаў у складзе Рэчы Паспалітай, а ні становішча беларусаў у складзе другой Рэчы Паспалітай ня былі роўнымі да становішча этнічных палякаў, але гэта істотна кампенсавалася паслядоўнай еўрапейскай арыентацыяй супольнай краіны і непазбежна еўрапеізавала беларусаў. Зрэшты гэта не перашкодзіла таму, што Мужыцкая праўда паўстанцаў Каліноўскага выходзіла па-беларуску, а большасць беларускамоўнай інтэлігенцыі канца ХІХ-пачатку XX стагоддзя выйшла менавіта з польскамоўнага асяроддзя. І безумоўна гэта не ішло ні ў якае параўнанне з адсталасцю пад расейскім каланіяльным самадзяржаўным ладам, які ніяк не змяніўся за стагоддзі ад ператварэння Масквы ў паўнавартаснага нашчадка Залатой Арды.
