Minsk Husky Becomes Face of New Mark Formelle Collection. For This, He Received One T-shirt

The new T-shirt from Belarusian brand Mark Formelle features a serious husky with a large slice of pizza in his teeth. Next to him are playful captions: "patient companion", "friendly fluffball", "soft heart", and "happy tail". The hero of the print is a Minsk husky named Ryk.

Ryk is now ten and a half years old. He lives in Minsk with his owner Volha Shydlouskaya and cat Luna. Volha maintains a separate blog about them, where she has collected dozens of beautiful, funny, and sometimes almost fairytale-like photos of her pets.

Photos were simply sent to a contest, no T-shirts were promised

About two years ago, Volha sent a photo to a pet contest organized by Mark Formelle. The company's social media periodically hosts various creative contests — among children's drawings, fashion looks, or funny pet photos.

About a year later, Ryk became one of the winners. For this, his owner received a certificate for 100 rubles. No participation in a future collection was promised to the winners at that time.

The photo that eventually made it onto the T-shirt was taken when Ryk was about seven years old. In it, the husky holds a large slice of pizza in his teeth and looks at the camera with an expression as if he has no intention of sharing the treat.

«They didn't promise us participation in the collection for winning the contest. They just wrote separately later that the photo inspired the designers and, if I didn't object, they would use it», — Volha shares on social media.

The company proposed drafting a contract to secure the right to use the image. The owners did not receive a separate fee for Ryk's appearance on the clothing, but the brand gifted them a T-shirt.

«I'm so happy for Rykulya. Share our joy for this old boy», — wrote Volha, showing the new item to her subscribers.

As a result, Ryk became the main character of a men's green oversized T-shirt with an uneven dyeing effect. Above his portrait, the English phrase: «Are you hungry? Pizza time» — along with its Belarusian translation «Ты галодны? Час піцы» — was placed.

Mark Formelle itself describes the model as a T-shirt «with humor and character», designed to add playfulness to an outfit. On the brand's Belarusian website, it costs about 45 rubles. The model also appeared on the company's websites for buyers in Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.

Champion, Traveler, and Model

However, this is not Ryk's first public recognition. He previously appeared on television and participated in photoshoots. He also has his own YouTube channel, where videos from exhibitions and other events are preserved.

In his youth, Ryk had an impressive exhibition career. He participated in Belarusian and international cynological exhibitions, winning and taking prize places in Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Estonia, and Latvia.

Among his titles are two-time Super Grand Champion of Belarus in 2018-2019, Champion of Latvia, and Champion of the Baltic. At the international dog show in Minsk in 2019, Ryk took first place in his group.

But Ryk's life was not limited to exhibition grounds. He traveled extensively with his owner and managed to visit at least nine countries. His blog features trips, walks, seasonal photoshoots, country life, and daily routines with his cat Luna.

Behind the beautiful shots is Volha Shydlouskaya. She works in internet marketing: she handles SMM, SEO, contextual and targeted advertising, content, and project management, and produces shoots for companies. But in the blog, she is first and foremost a person who deeply loves her pets.

Ryk appears there as a true family member — a proud champion, a traveler in stylish glasses, and simply an aging dog who once had the luck to grab a slice of pizza and, three years later, end up on T-shirts.
