Note, purportedly written by Epstein before suicide attempt, published
“It’s a real gift — to be able to choose the time of goodbye yourself,” the note read.

A US court has published a photo of a death note, purportedly written by financier Jeffrey Epstein before his unsuccessful suicide attempt in prison in July 2019.
The New York Times writes about this, adding that they have no conclusive evidence that the note was indeed written by Epstein.
The note was found by Epstein's cellmate, former police officer Nicholas Tartaglione.
In it, Epstein states that evidence of the accusations against him had not been found, despite "months of interrogations."
“It’s a real gift — to be able to choose the time of goodbye yourself,” the note read. “And what do you want from me — for me to cry! No joy. It’s not worth it!”
There is no signature on the note.
The U.S. Department of Justice has not yet commented on the situation. The note underwent handwriting analysis, which confirmed similarities to Epstein's handwriting.
In July 2019, Epstein was found unconscious in his prison cell with neck injuries. After this, he was moved to a padded cell under constant surveillance, but later returned to a regular one. In August 2019, the financier was found dead.
