Belarusian photographer in Poland searches for stolen Lexus

Sergei Ludkevich, a photographer from Grodno who now lives and works in Warsaw, is ready to pay about 785 rubles for information about the car's fate. He says he is helping a neighbor find the car. But the chances of finding the car are very slim.

A green Lexus RX350 was stolen in the Kabaty district of Warsaw.

"For information on where it might be parked, I'm offering 1000 zlotys (785 rubles — NN) to anyone who tells me. Most likely, it was stolen on 06.05.2026 at 4:43 AM," he wrote on Threads.

In the comments, most people tend to believe that the car is unlikely to be found, as stolen cars in Poland are disassembled for parts within a few hours.

Unfortunately, their warnings are substantiated by statistics. Figures previously released indicated that about 80% of stolen cars are indeed dismantled for parts.

Who is Sergei Ludkevich?

Ludkevich is a photojournalist with over 10 years of experience working in media. He shot photos and videos for various publications from Belarus and Ukraine. In 2020, he covered the protests in Grodno. After the crackdown on independent media in early 2021, he lost his job in photojournalism, went into private photography, and opened a photo studio in Grodno. Later, due to political persecution, he was forced to leave Belarus. He now lives in Warsaw, where, in addition to his photography work, he works as a taxi driver.

Cars are stolen regularly in Warsaw

This is by no means the only case in recent years that has become publicly known where Belarusians were victims of theft. Last September, also in Warsaw, Belarusians had a Hyundai Kona stolen, which had Polish license plates.

For example, over ten months of 2023, the "AutoGrodno" portal once counted eight such cases.

Moreover, out of eight cars stolen from Belarusians then, only one was found.

In 2024, perhaps the most expensive theft occurred: a Belarusian had a Porsche 718 Spyder stolen, the cost of which exceeded $100,000. The car was registered in Poland. At the time of the theft, it was in a closed parking lot – and even that didn't help.

Also, already at the beginning of 2025, a Belarusian had a Lexus UX stolen; the car also had Polish registration.

In reality, cars are stolen in Poland without knowing the nationality or citizenship of the owner. Nevertheless, news about cars being stolen from Belarusians appears regularly. The reason for this lies in the overall theft figures.

Car theft figures in Poland are alarming

Last year, 1324 cars were stolen in Warsaw alone. This means that, on average, three to four cars were stolen daily in the Polish capital. Therefore, it is not surprising that cars belonging to Belarusians often appear on this list.

In total, 9820 thefts were recorded in Poland in 2024. Of these, almost 1900 occurred in Warsaw.

Юзік, почему бы вполне приличной варшавской СТО не подзаработать на разборке украденной машины в 4:43 утра? Всё же спят, и никто ничего не узнает.
