Belarusian GDP for the first time this year exceeded last year's level
The volume of Belarus's GDP in January-April 2026 amounted to 94.5 billion rubles in current prices, which is 0.2 percent more in comparable prices than in the same period of 2025. Belstat reported this on May 18.

In January, the Belarusian economy lagged behind the previous year by 1.2 percent, in January-February — also by 1.2 percent, in January-March — by 0.4 percent.
Now, for the first time this year, it has exceeded the level of 2025. Overall, according to the parameters of socio-economic development for 2026, Belarus's GDP will grow by 2.8 percent by the end of all 12 months.
In January-April 2026, compared to the same period in 2025, agricultural production increased by 2.9 percent, while industrial production decreased by 2.5 percent.
Investments in fixed capital decreased by 0.6 percent. Housing commissioning decreased by 26.6 percent. Freight turnover increased by 0.2 percent, passenger turnover — by 8.3 percent.
Wholesale trade turnover decreased by 2 percent, public catering turnover — by 0.6 percent. However, retail trade turnover increased by 6.2 percent.
