Minsk Resident Stole Jacket and Sneakers from Children's Dental Clinic, Then Went to Police in the Stolen Items
A 42‑year‑old Minsk resident committed a maximally absurd and strange crime: he "updated his wardrobe" at a children's dental clinic, leaving his old clothes there, and then went to the DDIA in the stolen items.
A 42‑year‑old resident of the capital entered the building of a children's dental clinic on Smarhouksi Trakt. In the cloakroom of the medical institution, he liked someone else's jacket. He put it on, leaving his old clothes on the hanger. There, in the same cloakroom, the Minsk resident found someone else's sneakers, which he immediately put on, "Minsk-Novosti" writes.
Dressed in the stolen items, the man headed straight to the Central District Department of Internal Affairs (DDIA) of Minsk. It turns out that he had already been convicted and is registered with the criminal enforcement inspectorate, where he had come to report.
The suspect, wearing the stolen new clothes, was detained. The theft at the clinic itself was captured by surveillance cameras.
The prosecutor's office reported that the detained man has a higher education, is officially unemployed, and is raising a minor child. In January 2026, he was convicted for illegal trafficking of prohibited substances without intent to sell and sentenced to 4 years of "restricted freedom" (or "community service with restrictions"). Now, a new criminal case for theft has been initiated against the Minsk resident.
