In Lepel District, Archaeologists Found Amber Pendants and Stone Maces

Ancient amber pendants and stone maces were found by archaeologists in the Lepel district, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences reported .

An expedition of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, together with the school archaeological and local history summer camp of Pshonka's Sloboda Secondary School, is exploring the Neolithic – Bronze Age site Byarescha 1 (Dubavets tract, Byarescha archaeological micro-region) in the Lepel district of Vitebsk region.

A significant number of fragments of ceramic pottery, flint and bone artifacts, as well as an osteological collection were found. Among the unique finds are amber pendants, two stone maces (a whole massive oval one and half of a round one).

According to scientists, most of the discovered materials belong to the Usvyatsy archaeological culture.
