Deceased Senator Lindsey Graham's Sister to Take His Place in U.S. Senate
Darlene Graham Nordon, the younger sister of influential Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who suddenly passed away last weekend, will temporarily take his place in the U.S. Congress. Her appointment was announced on July 13 by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster.

"It is a great honor for me to ask his younger sister Darlene Graham to complete his work," the governor stated.
This decision was personally recommended by U.S. President Donald Trump, who called it a wonderful gesture of respect for the memory of the deceased politician.
Darlene Graham Nordon will serve as senator until the end of her brother's current term – until January 2027. After taking the oath, she will make history as the first woman to represent South Carolina in the U.S. Senate.
The sudden death of the politician completely changed plans for the November elections, where Graham was running for a fifth term and was considered an undisputed favorite. Now, emergency primaries have been scheduled in the state for August 11, during which Republicans will determine a new candidate for the senatorial position.
Lindsey Graham suddenly died on the evening of July 11 at the age of 71. According to preliminary conclusions from forensic medical experts, the cause was an aortic dissection against a background of atherosclerosis.
Just one day before the tragedy, on July 10, the American politician was on a visit to Kyiv, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and visited a military drone manufacturing facility.
