"The storming of our Bastille is still ahead." Statkevich met with French diplomats
Today is France's national holiday — Bastille Day. On this day, former political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich, together with his wife Maryna Adamovich, personally conveyed their greetings to its official representatives, he announced on his Telegram channel.

"In the history of every successful nation, there was its own taken Bastille: a victorious revolution, a won war for independence, the mobilization of society for difficult but successful reforms. There were sacrifices and hard work of the nation for the normal life of its future generations.
When a country is in trouble and its future is in danger, and the prevailing approach among the active part of the nation becomes that the main thing is the preservation of one's own life and freedom, that one should, first of all, strive for one's own well-being and security, then the dominance of such an approach steals a normal future from the next generations. It makes the cost of their attempts to create a free and successful country even higher and more sacrificial.
I congratulate the French on their main holiday!
And the storming of the Belarusian Bastille still awaits us ahead," — wrote Mikalai Statkevich.
