Ukraine Announced the Use of Its Own Ballistic Missiles as Early as This Autumn
Ukrainian military personnel may receive new domestic ballistic missiles into service as early as this autumn and use them for strikes on Russian territory. This was stated in an interview with journalist Dmytro Gordon by Denys Shtylerman, the owner and chief designer of Fire Point company.

According to Denys Shtylerman, the final stage of testing for the new missile is currently underway. After the completion of test launches, it may enter service, and specific targets for its use will be determined by the military. Shtylerman suggested that important objects on Russian territory could be the first targets.
He noted that the timelines for the missile's adoption into service depend on the results of engine tests. If shortcomings are identified during stand tests, they plan to promptly eliminate them.
Fire Point company is one of the major contractors for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It produces long-range strike drones FP-1, as well as FP-5 'Flamingo' cruise missiles.
The company announced the development of FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles in September 2025. In February 2026, the first test launch of the FP-7 missile was demonstrated. According to previously published data, the FP-7 is designed for a flight range of up to 250-300 kilometers, and the FP-9 — up to 850 kilometers.
Already in June, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the country has significantly neared the creation of its own ballistic missile, capable of hitting targets on Russian territory. According to him, the development of the missile program and the production of long-range strike weapons should strengthen the country's defensive capabilities.
Ukraine also continues work on the Sapsan missile system ('Hrim-2'), whose stated flight range is about 500 kilometers. The start of its serial production was reported in 2025, and later Ukrainian authorities also announced the first combat use of this missile.
