Lukashenka invited the head of Laos to Belarus. He proposed joint gold mining
Alexander Lukashenka met with Laotian President Thongloun Sisoulith in Bishkek and invited him to visit Belarus. In response, the head of Laos suggested that the Belarusian side participate in mining useful minerals and build a gold processing plant in his country.
The meeting took place on September 1 on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.
Lukashenka stated that Belarus and Laos should develop relations more intensively. Among the possible directions, he named mechanical engineering — not only the sale of Belarusian equipment but also the creation of joint ventures.
He also proposed transferring Belarusian technologies to Laos and training local specialists. In addition, Belarus is ready to supply food products and host Laotian children for recreation.
In response, Thongloun Sisoulith proposed cooperation in the extraction of useful minerals, primarily gold.
"We can work jointly in the field of mining useful minerals, gold. We could build a gold processing plant together. We already have such an enterprise, but we can build another one. We would very much like to cooperate with you in this area; you have very rich experience," stated the head of Laos.
He invited Belarusian specialists to come to Laos and study other possible areas of cooperation.
"We expect investments from Belarus. We have many resources, and we are ready to share profits," Sisoulith added.
At the end of the meeting, Lukashenka invited the head of Laos to visit Belarus at his convenience.
