US President Donald Trump on September 2 proposed changing the name of the Strait of Hormuz to "Trump Strait." He wrote about this on his social network Truth Social.
"Now that it is under US control, maybe we should rename the Strait of Hormuz the Strait of Trump??? Like America itself, it would be 'hotter' than ever before! Thank you for your attention to this matter," the US President wrote.
Earlier, Trump stated that the United States allegedly almost completely controls the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran's economy is in a very difficult state. He also noted that he does not aim to force Iran into negotiations.
According to him, he doesn't care if the Iranian authorities agree to any agreement, because, in his opinion, they are only delaying the inevitable. Trump also urged Iranians to decide when they are ready to rise up and start fighting.
Meanwhile, the US Central Command reported strikes on Iran. The American side stated that these were in response to attacks by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and US military personnel in the region.
