Konstantin Kakhnouski is 73 years old. He lives in Vaukavysk, although he also indicated Hrodna in his profiles.
The man graduated from the Military Engineering and Technical University in Leningrad (VITU). In the 1980s, he went through the war in Afghanistan — he served in Kabul as an officer of military unit 26190 (the 5131st reinforced concrete products manufacturing base as part of the 40th Army) and managed a workshop that produced structures for the needs of the Soviet contingent.
He is now retired.
The former serviceman was tried in the Hrodna Regional Court. He was charged under Part 1 of Article 130 (inciting social hatred), as well as Parts 1 and 2 of Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code (facilitating extremist activity). These are typical articles used for unfounded political persecution. What exactly the former Afghan was charged with is not yet known.
Kakhnouski was sentenced to home detention ("home chemistry").
