Panel skyscrapers should appear in Belarus in the coming years. Even up to 53 floors!
Vadzim Alsheuski, Minister of Architecture and Construction of Belarus, stated that panel buildings at least 25 stories high may appear in the country in the next few years. He told this to a journalist from Blizko.by at the BudExpo-2026 construction exhibition.
According to the minister, work is currently underway on the creation of such high-rise panel buildings, but it is still difficult to name exact deadlines. At the same time, he assured that such a project must definitely be implemented in the next couple of years.
In addition to panel buildings, a significantly taller monolithic-frame building is planned to be erected in Minsk.
Alsheuski reported that there is an idea to build a 53-story building in the capital.
Currently, the tallest panel residential building in Belarus is considered to be a 24-story building in Gomel, completed in 2025. It has 184 apartments: one-room apartments with an area of 46 square meters or more, two-room apartments from 49 square meters, and three-room apartments from 83 square meters. The project for this building was presented back in 2021. Initially, the building was planned to be oval-shaped, but a year later, an updated, rectangular version was presented. Two more such buildings have begun to be erected nearby.
There are currently no 24-story panel buildings in Minsk. In the Novaya Baravaya microdistrict, which administratively belongs to the village of Kopishche, Baravlyany rural council, there is a 23-story panel building at Aviacyjnaya Street, 47. It was built between 2022 and 2024.
The idea of constructing 25-story panel buildings in Belarus has been discussed for more than 15 years. Back in 2010, Andrey Shalima, deputy chief engineer of MAPID, said that houses of the M 111-90 series were planned to be increased to 25 stories. According to him, this would allow for denser development, making new microdistricts more distinctive and creating architectural accents instead of continuous rows of high-rises.
So far, such a project has not been implemented. The highest multi-entrance panel buildings are currently being constructed by the Plant of Effective Industrial Structures. The 24-RS series, used for their construction, allows for buildings not only with 19 but also up to 24 stories. The first buildings of this series currently have three entrances and 19 stories. One of them, on Pavlina Miadzelki Street, has already been built and put into operation.
