Kastus Kalinouski Uprising Through Eyes of Contemporaries: Woodcuts

These woodcut (xylography) printed in Le monde illustre and told about the uprising of Kastus Kalinouski(1863–1864). Now the prints are sold on allegro.pl, Polish online shop.

The French were interested in the events in the former Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth and supported the aspiration of the local residents for freedom.

The authors of the woodcuts about the life in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania for French illustrated magazines were Charles Morand, Gustave Janet, Ravenous.
