Vladimir Putin answered the question "war or peace" and how the "goals of the SMO" would be achieved, posed by the host of the "direct line", reports BBC.

"So far, we really do not see such readiness," Putin answered, referring to Ukraine's unwillingness to accept the conditions for ending the war on his terms.

Further, the Russian president returned to the events of 2014. Putin claims that Kyiv refuses to end the war by peaceful means.

"But we know about signals that they are ready to conduct some dialogue," he added.

"I just listened to another report from the Chief of the General Staff," Putin continued. He claims that Russia is advancing in all directions, and "the enemy is retreating".

According to him, after the capture of Siversk in the Donetsk region, opportunities for further advancement are opening up. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have not confirmed the capture of Siversk.

Krasny Lyman will be taken soon, Putin suggested. He recalled that battles are ongoing in Kostiantynivka, claiming that more than 50% of the settlement is already under Russian control.

He also states that the attempts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to retake Pokrovsk are unsuccessful. The 'Vostok' group is rapidly moving through the Zaporizhzhia region, battles are ongoing in the city of Huliaipole, added the Russian president.

Putin reiterated the claim about the capture of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region.

"I am confident that by the end of the year, we will still witness the successes of our fighters on the line of combat engagement," Putin stated.

He also commented on Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Kupiansk.

"He is an artist, and a talented artist, I say this without irony," Putin said. He said that the stele now looks "completely different", and is located a kilometer from the city.

"Why stand at the threshold - enter the house, if Kupiansk is under their control," said the president.

He added that the sky over Kupiansk is full of Ukrainian and Russian drones.

Putin said that "the enemy is trying to regain what was lost at any cost." But the problem, according to the president, is that Ukraine has lost its strategic reserves.

"This should push the Kyiv regime to resolve all disputed issues and end this conflict by peaceful means," summarized the president.
