In Gomel, preparations have begun for the dismantling of the upper floors of the entrance of a 10-story building on Kosarava Street, which was damaged during an explosion. Specialists assessed the condition of the damaged entrance's structures and concluded that the dismantling of the upper floors would not affect neighboring entrances, so there is no threat to their residents. The dismantling process will begin from the very top slab and will continue down to the 6th floor, after which new decisions will be made depending on the results of further inspections.

The city headquarters operates around the clock and is declared to continue in this mode until the full restoration of the building. Headquarters staff individually contact each resident to determine the necessary support and also organize the collection of belongings and equipment, as people were evacuated urgently. Simultaneously, a place for storing their property is being determined, and damage assessment is being carried out.
The issue of compensation, as well as the provision of social or rental housing, is separately controlled.
An explosion in an apartment in a building on Gomel's Kosarava Street occurred on December 17, as a result of which ceilings collapsed in three apartments. The nearest kindergarten also suffered from the incident. The blast wave shattered windows in the building. In addition, at least two nearby parked cars were damaged.
No living people were found under the rubble. There is no information on whether there are fatalities.
