17 years ago, a World War II veteran was murdered in the Pukhovichi district. For a long time, the crime remained unsolved, the Prosecutor General's Office reports.

It all happened on the night of January 6, 2007. An unknown person broke into the house of an 83-year-old resident of the village of Svetly Bor - he found 250 thousand non-denominated rubles (today it is 25 rubles), a Luch watch and state awards of the USSR and Belarus, which the man was awarded as a participant in the war.
"When the owner of the house caught the perpetrator at the scene, he pushed him in the chest and hit him on the head with a hammer at least three times. At the same time, he knew that the victim was an elderly person, a group II disabled person due to a disease of the musculoskeletal system. Then the accused continued searching for valuables in the house. Not finding anything of value and fearing being caught at the scene of the crime, he fled with the stolen property and awards," the Prosecutor General's Office reports.
Later, the man committed various crimes (including serious ones), was in prison and eventually became a defendant in the case of the murder of a World War II veteran. After studying the case materials, the Minsk Regional Prosecutor's Office concluded that the charges were justified and agreed with the qualification under Part 3 of Art. 207 (robbery), paragraphs. 2, 12 h. 2 Art. 139 (murder), Part 3 of Art. 147 (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
