Former People's Deputy, chairman of the "Svoboda" (Freedom) association Oleh Tyahnybok was wounded at the front, reports UNIAN.
This was announced by the mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ruslan Martsinkiv: "Oleh Tyahnybok was wounded at the front. He and his comrades were in a car that was hit by an enemy drone. We wish him a speedy recovery!" — wrote the city mayor.
Oleh Tyahnybok was born in Lviv in 1968. He became the leader of the "Svoboda" (Freedom) party in 2004. He served as a people's deputy for three convocations and also ran for President of Ukraine twice. In the 2014 elections, he garnered 1.16 percent, taking 10th place, but surpassed Dmytro Yarosh, who had 0.7 percent.
Even before the annexation, Tyahnybok proposed stripping Crimea of its autonomous status and warned that all of Russia "suffers from imperial syndrome".
He was one of the leaders of the Maidan in 2013-2014.
Together with Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Vitali Klitschko, he participated in negotiations with Yanukovych in January 2014.
He was known for his anti-Russian rhetoric, and at times also made anti-Semitic comments. In 2013, he proposed demanding compensation from Russia for the Holodomor.
After the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Tyahnybok joined the army in the first days of the invasion — at the end of February 2022.
He served in special operations units, and later as part of the 128th Brigade "Wild Field," where he held the position of deputy battalion commander. He holds the rank of lieutenant colonel.
