Russian President Vladimir Putin met one-on-one with former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told Interfax.
"Yes, they met, it was a good conversation," Ushakov said. When asked for clarification on whether any prospects for negotiations between Russia and the EU were discussed, he replied: "I don't know, the conversation was one-on-one."
"The conversation was friendly, it took place one-on-one. Frankly, I don't know the details. It took place in Moscow, in the Kremlin," Ushakov told reporters.
Earlier, Russian authorities named Schröder as their candidate for an EU mediator in possible negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
