The President of Ukraine considers the proposal to withdraw Ukrainian troops beyond the borders of Donetsk region unfair. According to a UNIAN correspondent, the head of state stated this during an online briefing on WhatsApp, writes "UNIAN".

“I believe that today a fair possible option should be 'we stand where we stand', and that is true, because that is ceasefire. The parties remain in their positions, and then diplomatically try to resolve all general issues. I know that Russia views this negatively, and I would like the Americans to support us in this matter. But to our 'we stand where we stand', the Russians answer that we must withdraw from Donbas, or they will occupy it anyway,” Zelenskyy said.
“I said that there are many insinuations of various kinds here. For example, as with Kupyansk. They stated that they 'occupied' Kupyansk, that we are 'surrounded', etc. I was recently in Kupyansk and showed who controls this city. There is also a lot of disinformation from the Russians. Therefore, I gave signals to our colleagues from the United States of America that one should not believe everything the Russians say,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
As he noted, “Russia wants to save its forces and occupy our eastern part of our state through diplomatic-political means.”
Zelenskyy added that then the US proposed that the Russian army would allegedly not enter the part of eastern Ukraine controlled by the Ukrainian authorities, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine should allegedly withdraw from there.
“I do not think this is fair. Because this is an economic zone – who will manage it? If we are talking about some buffer zone along the contact line, and if we are talking about some economic zone, and we believe that there should only be a police mission there, and troops should withdraw, then the question is very simple: for example, if Ukrainian troops withdraw 5-10 km, etc., then why don't Russian troops also withdraw into the occupied territories by the same distance?” Zelenskyy noted.
As the President of Ukraine said, there is no answer to this question yet, but it is very sensitive and very hot.
